Playing the Carnegie

So you want to be a rock’n’roll star
Then listen now to what I say
Just get an electric guitar
And take some time and learn how to play
And when your hair’s combed right and your pants fit tight
It’s gonna be all right

So You Want To Be A Rock’N’Roll Star” by The Byrds

How do you get to the Carnegie? Practice, practice, practice! On Saturday, June 18 and again Saturday, June 25, I’ll join 40 business and community leaders to the stage at The Carnegie in Covington, KY (nope, not NYC) for the 9th Annual Suits That Rock concert, benefiting The Carnegie’s education department. All “Suits” by day, performers are trading in their business attire and briefcases for microphones to Turn the Radio Up!

The “Suits” have been selling out the Carnegie since 2005. I heard about the Suits for years and after meeting John Domaschko, one of the founders, I was honored to be a Guest Suit last year. Even better, I was asked to return this year! It was more fun than I imagined. People pack the house and dance in the aisles all night long. The musicians start rehearsals in February if you can believe. The logistics of moving 40 musicians in and out of songs in pretty complex. If you’re in audience, it looks seamless. Tickets go on sale Tuesday May 3rd. Call Brenda Berger in the box office (859 957-1940) and tell her that Tim Schigel sent you.

I hope to see you there.
